Geberit and James Bond present: The Aston Martin of the seas

Geberit UK and the seagoing business

, 2010

The British are a proud seafaring nation. Even though Her Majesty’s Fleet no longer rules the seas, the glory of days gone but has still not faded. Adrian Checketts of Geberit UK knows by heart the requirements of his sometimes exclusive customers in the oceangoing business.

Gunshots whip through the air and the waves ride high, but his man stays smart and dry. His eyes focused, he follows the rakish yacht in which the beautiful girl races away over the Thames. The man’s name is Bond, James Bond, and the yacht is one of the top brands in the business: Sunseeker. The luxury yacht appears in all of the last four action films with England’s indestructible Secret Agent 007, making Sunseeker the Aston Martin of the seas, so to speak. “Unfortunately, our products are not to be seen in the film, but that’s what happens when one supplies the important parts instead of the glamorous ones,” says Adrian Checketts cheerfully.

The winds are favorable

For around three years now, the maritime business activities of Geberit UK have really been riding high, and Adrian Checketts has a right to be proud: “It is only recently that we landed a further big fish by acquiring the Princess Yachts as a customer.

Innovation is key

In this business, you need to know the trends in order to stay afloat. For Thomas Sarrazin, who manages the Group Competence Center Industry (CCI), the course ahead is already mapped out: “Modular design and standardization are playing ever greater roles in all areas of shipbuilding. Boat designers do not want to have combine individual components for different manufacturers, but rely increasingly on systems as those Geberit can offer with Mapress, Mepla, PushFit and PEHD.

We would like to finish this article with the words of Thomas Sarrazin: “Our innovative system solutions fall on fertile ground.
